Tbh I couldn't care less about Pen and Colin but I'm a bit disappointed that they did not show Kate and Anthony more especially when they are the heads of the Bridgerton family now. Where is Kate and Anthony's wedding and honeymoon? Kate giving birth and Anthony pacing? Isn't this show called Bridgerton? Both are important characters and they are being tossed aside.

Totally agree with you on all counts.. I really hoped for a few minutes there that Eloise and Penelope were endgame, they felt SO REAL together, and Lord Debling was such a great character 😭😭

Pen and the actress deserves so, so much better. I don't like that Colin was framed as the prize.

I thought I was the only person who had the same thoughts Mina 😭 seeing people gush over season had me confused wondering if I saw the same show. I feel like I ended up hate watching. I was so annoyed by Polin.

My main problem with the third season is that people honestly expect I will invest some more time in their beloved deranged retro porno books to compare it seriously with the series. No thanks. I bingewatch it to escape reality for an hour or two. I never considered these series even close to standing on par with Lord of Rings or similar fantasy projects.

Bridgerton storytelling has never made a whole lot of sense but this season it also felt rushed, badly paced and unfocused. And almost all the character development was badly done. I think the only exceptions were maybe Violet's crush on Lady Danbury's brother, Portia and some parts of Cressida's arc (but they fumbled the ending on that one).

i do not understand why they didn’t make eloise and penelope the main couple like i know it wasn’t in the books but this show has LITERALLY NO LESBIANS. JUST GIVE US SOME LESBIANS. JESUS.

I hate: How they forced the "male lead glow up" on Colin. He looks like he has a mewing problem. Not hating on the actor, but I swear the audience has ruined the bridgerton glow up, all it was for Anthony, was literally just his hair, but for Colin, they turned him into this gigichad buff man. I understand he has grown and matured, but it just reinforces the idea that a guy is only male lead material once his muscles have muscles. It was also way too modernised, I get it's basically a fantasy, and I'm not saying I want full historical accuracy, but the hair makeup, and quite fake looking materials used for the costumes, just take me so out of it. When they talk about what's "proper" I'm just sitting there thinking "why do you care about what's proper? You all live in the 21st C- oh wait, this is the Regency Era".

There is just no chemistry between Colin and Penelope. It’s almost painful to watch.

this seasons couple plot lines were mid but totally agree that the girl friendships were what I looked forward to way more. what did you think of the adults this szn like violet and Marcus? Ngl i loved getting to see of violet and lady Danbury’s friendship.

2:25 hmm maybe I’ll give season 2 a shot as I did not like season 1.

The costuming for Eloise and Queen Charlotte this season actually have some explanations Claudia Jessie, the actress who plays Eloise, broke her wrist during filming while trying to do a high kick in a period dress. Apparently, she had to wear a pretty noticeable cast and the costume department worked around that by covering her injured arm most of the time she was onscreen, so out-of-season muffs, heavy shawls, etc. As for Queen Charlotte, I think the in-universe reasoning is that the Queen always wears Georgian fashion as to not further confuse the King with too much change. She wants to be that one comforting constant for him. I can't remember if this was confirmed in the show, if it's Word of God or just a fan-theory, but I think it's reasonable

Historically Queen Charlotte was super traditional and hated French fashions, so English court clothing at this time was really outdated for the most part. The costumes in Bridgerton are mostly French fashions from the era, idk why the costumers did that but yeah... So Queen Charlotte being out of fashion is quite accurate but then she required everyone else to be out of fashion too. Also, Colin def tells Penelope that he wishes he could publish his own work and he doesn't want/need her help. Def misogynistic.

You pretty much summarized every problem i had with this season. Was the season entertaining? Sure. But it just didn’t hit like the others

I keep rewatching the season because I felt it missed somethings, but as I rewatch I kept finding a lot of hidden details, I recommend people to rewatch this season as a whole it makes a huge difference

Eloise was wearing those cuff towels because the actress broke her arm 😆 they had to figure out how to hide it. I think they could have come up with something better though.

I just want to say I also read Cressida's fashion as her desperate attempt at identity outside her controlling conservative family during what may be the last few months of expression in her life

Netflix seems to thrive at prequel material that don't have much source material aka the Queen Charlotte prequel mini series, the best Bridgerton property to be released so far. It was my intro to anything Bridgerton and none of the seasons of the main series measure up to Queen Charlotte in my opinion

An author's choice to omit details drives most young art connoisseurs and students in my lit courses mad! 💯If we knew everything about Colin's travels, we'd know everything then piece it all together, nice and tidy. But... I am a believer in good character development. I agree that there should have been more "casual banter" between Colin and Pen, but how does an author avoid predictability ... errr emmm, that Sweeney movie? .... plot predictable for us old folk but a fun movie I bet. And yeahhhhh, Colin seems "rivalry-ishy" toward Pen's writing.... reminds me of the recent Ben cry about JLo's mobster fans! I've always been team Ben and a heavy NO Jen'er ... she really CANNOT sing for real and neither can Janet Jackson [it's okay to shoot me folks! I can handle it]. Oh, and Mina ... please stop it with the "old" take on you! Girl please! I polled my university students last fall semester, and they said No No NOoooo! early, mid, even late 20s is just as🔥!!! Pen's excuses for writing about Colin were a bit gross. She was lashing out at him because she was angry, hurt and jealous, but as you said, that is the sort of conversation that should be kept between the two of them. The conversation they did have about it was great, but also soured by her initial response. She wants him the way she wants him, and didn't like that he changed, yet she's never once bothered to ask him why. Him believing that she lacks respect for him is completely understandable. I know she's a gossip, and a fundamental lack of consideration for other people's feelings and privacy is a given, but he was her friend for a long time. He always protected her, and saw her when nobody else did. What happened in 2x08 sucks, but one incident shouldn't negate all those years. Besides, Pen's intentional, pre-meditated, public attack on him was much worse than Colin's one-off, spur-of-the-moment comment to a limited number of people. All their conversations in S3 have been primarily focussed on her, largely because she let him believe he needed to earn back her friendship, when she'd already gotten her petty revenge. Her crush on him may have been one-sided in the first two seasons, but their friendship never was, until this season. Whether it's because the writers listened to all that toxic, entitled nonsense people kept saying about wanting to see Colin grovel, which is really gross, or for some other reason, that does not make for a healthy dynamic. I mean, she wanted him so badly for so long, but now that she has his love, she cares more about her ego? She'd really choose trashy gossip over the life she could have with him? Really?! Also, you were spot on about Eloise and Colin loyally keeping Pen's secrets, no matter how hurt and angry they were about them. Which is kind of ironic, since Penelope herself has little respect for anyone else's secrets.

I think they should’ve kept the awkward Colin that we all know. Not this “dashing” weirdo 😅 Would’ve loved to hear more corny jokes and theatrical singing from him!

Generally speaking, this season felt like it actually hinged on other seasons. And that’s kind of a problem. Bridgerton is not supposed to be that kind of show. S2 proves that- Anthony has a whole fucking arc in S1 that they very quickly and directly summarize before they just dive in to the season. We didn’t need to know about the nonsense with his bachelor pad, or his rake days- the season made sure to catch us up. They give us all the information we need to know about Anthony to understand his character development. IN FACT, they save some of the important parts of his character (the moment he had to watch his dad die, the moment he was treated as the man of the house to make decisions over his mother who was the one giving birth) FOR HIS SEASON. S3 felt like they REALLY ASSUMED you’ve been watching Polin closely. And the fact is- no? I haven’t? I have been watching Daphne/Simon and Kanthony closely, because THATS WHO THOSE SEASONS WERE ABOUT 😭 The way the Marina shit with Colin BARELY got referenced IN THE SEASON ITSELF, but it’s constantly brought up as a thing you need to know to understand Colin’s character being “sweet and awkward deep down”- damn. That’s cool. AND WHERE WAS THAT? IN HIS OWN SEASON? Where were the big character development punches that should have been SAVED or CREATED for his season? They glossed over the shit where he apparently cherished how she answered his letters- that should have been momentous, he should have been clinging to that shit to really get us to understand how much he valued being SEEN. But we don’t really get that. We get glimpses of his character, we see him in the cracks, in little quips he makes but that doesn’t make a character arc. I love some indirect characterization and subtext, but when that makes up the bulk of a character in a show NOT EXACTLY KNOWN for its subtext and indirect characterization… do we see how maybe it’s not received well, or understood? Anyway, don’t recommend me the character analyses- I promise I get Colin’s character, this is my favorite season besides S2. But I was not a fan of the new direction or the ensemble distribution. That’s really going to bite it in the ass. It already did. The show knows it needs to reinvent itself a bit to survive (re: the points Mina made at the end of the vid, about getting you attached to other characters since this is the kind of show where the actors will be leaving frequently) but it’s not being done particularly gracefully imo.

The only thing I can defend is that bath towel muff the actress who plays her broke her arm 💀

queen charlottes costumes in the show are pretty accurate to the actual queen charlottes taste! historically, she didn't like the regency waistline, so she stuck to the fashions of her youth and was mocked for it!

Besides 'Derry Girls,' Nicola has an excellent new modern day series called 'Big Mood.' It is on Tubi (and I believe other platforms outside the U.S.). She is fabulous in it!

i’m here for friends to lovers. i adore that trope. however there wasn’t enough yearning from colin, like simon, anthony, and farmer george. yea sure colin got jealous but that was it. he didn’t have to fight for her at all and all he had to do was catch her in a carriage and propose. and i agree i would’ve loved to see them as kids. maybe as a flashback colin has when he starts to realize how special pen is to him. also it was said that around 3 polin scenes were purposefully cut out 😤 everything just felt too forced and rushed. simple is best especially with period pieces

this season was soooooooooo boring and the connection between colin and penelope felt fabricated and out of nowhere. When i first saw colin figure out it was penelope who was lady whistle down i was convinced it was a dream sequence because of how stupid and rushed the reveal seemed, and was shocked to learn it actually happened.

I swear they just use Eloise as a cop out character/catalyst for other characters to develop. I haven’t read the books but in the show they always make her do things that seem totally out of character to the point she seems like a different character in every scene and often comes off as a hypocrite. Like the way she goes on about being a true friend to Cressida and she has all these feminist ideas from previous seasons but she couldn’t care less about Cressida’s situation in the end and went straight back to Penelope and it’s never addressed! It’s like she’s just a placeholder for the other characters to speak to until her season comes. The lack of consistency is baffling.

Lot of problems with this season -- my main one is that Colin turned from a nonperson to an actively nonsensical and dislikeable person, and Pen barely got any romancing! More like, she was just barely tolerated by her love interest, while she chased and strived for him for 3 seasons. Ugh. She's one of my fav characters, and by now we've had 3 seasons with her, so we're more invested -- and the idea that she probably won't be there next season while we're doing the Benedict season (don't care for Benedict) is kind of a downer. Benedict does offer the chance to explore non-hetero, non-monogamous relationships though, so that's exciting. If only I actually liked Benedict more. :/ I actually don't like the main Bridgerton men so far. Anthony is too angry and aggro, Benedict is too waffly, and gave up his art when he couldn't be the best (listen, I relate, but, yowch), and Colin is actively annoying me while I'm trying to like him.

But where are those other actors and actresses now?? I don't see Daphne and the Duke on any other shows or movies...

i actually liked this season but the things that actually bothered me about it was luke newton's botox job that severely hurt his expressiveness that were in the first 2 seasons (his face was so stiff) and the camerawork/editing. the scenes in s2 and queen charlotte were so well done and romantic, but i feel like we lacked those type of stuff for s3.

I was honestly also just disappointed by this season, especially since I was looking forward to their story so much.

I feel as though the Mondrich storyline cuts would have held more relevance to the wider season plot if not for Simon's actor's leaving. We cared about the Mondrich family because Simon cared about the Mondrich family. With him gone, Mr. Mondrich's strongest connection with the Bridgerton family, and thus his plot relevance, withers away.

If Bridgerton Season 3 went to India it would, in fact, be far enough.

I thought i was the biggest anthony simp out there, but u are giving mr quite the competition girl, and i am living for the kanthony love on this channel ❤❤
